Tips for Buying an Air Conditioner Online

As with any product that you buy, doing your research is important to make sure that you buy the right one for you.

There are some Tips and tricks that you can implement to help you get the right air conditioning unit for your home.

The Size

The unit that you will buy depends on the size of your room.

As a general rule, an air conditioning unit will require between 20 and 25 BTU per square foot.

If a unit is too powerful for your home, you will waste power and money.

If it’s too weak, the machine will be constantly running on full power and you will never feel the benefit of being cool.

This can also increase the running costs.

Pay particular attention to rooms that have high ceilings, high traffic, lots of sun or in a place with a lot of heat-generating appliances.

Amps

Many rooms in your home will have circuits that are suitable for around 15amps of electricity.

Unless the room where you are installing your air, conditioning unit has its own electrical line, check the amps of the unit to make sure that they are under 15.

Larger air conditioning units may trip the circuit breaker.

Dehumidifier

Most air conditioning units will provide a dehumidification level which will be an estimate of how much moisture is being removed from the air.

This figure can vary from between a pint an hour to as high as 10 per hour.

If you live in a high humidity climate then higher rate units would work best.

Efficiency

The higher the energy efficiency rating on your air conditioning unit, the more economical it will be to run.

The manufacturer Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) also the BTU or cooling output divided by the power consumption of the unit in watt-hours will calculate the energy efficiency of the model.
